Boeing Model 107/ CH-46 "Sea Knight"

Designed in 1956 in a collaborative effort of Boeing and Vertol Aircraft Corporations, the first flight of the Model 107 took place in April of 1958. Used extensively by the U.S Navy and Marines, the twin rotor "Sea Knight" operated as a transport or cargo aircraft between ships and was manufactured from 1961 to 1971. Powered by twin 1,400 hp turbine engines, it has a maximum air speed of 150 mph and a operating range of 680 miles. Its large fuselage and cargo area can transport (26) troops, (15) medical stretchers or 7,000 lbs of cargo. Access to the cargo area is through a rear ramp. Additional versions include mine detection and limited operations on water for rescue or recovery operations.
