Bell UH-1, 204/205 "Iroquois Huey"

Probably the best known, reliable and versatile helicopter flown is the Bell 204/205 "Huey". Flown extensively in the Vietnam War, its valor and role in the U.S. Army and Marines Assault Helicopter Squadrons is legendary. The Bell 204 designed in 1955 served in all branches of the military service in reconnaissance, search or rescue, tactical assault and medical evacuation roles. In 1962 the Bell 205 was introduced with a larger cabin increasing troop carrying capacity to 14. It is armed with (2) .30 caliber machine guns operated by door gunners on either side. Powered by a turbine engine its maximum speed is 130 mph with an operating range of 300 miles.
