Lieutenant Colonel Shay impressive and diverse 25 year Military Career started with Company G of the 31st Infantry battling the Japanese 1941 invasion of Luzon of the Philippines , then guerrilla forces during the Japanese occupation and later with the the 29th Evacuation Hospital until V-J day. During the Korean war he served and became a commissioned Army Officer in 1953 at Fort Benning. Ironically he commanded "Company G, of the 31st Infantry shortly after. In addition to college, further training includes: Ranger, Communications, Parachute, Intelligence, and other Advanced Career Officer Programs. In the Vietnam War he served 36 months with Special Operations in Laos and Vietnam until retirement in 1972. Many of the photos presented show the unique environment Special Operations encounter and influenced.
