Marie enlisted into the U.S. Navy Waves July
1945, attended Boot Camp at Hunter College in the Bronx and was
trained as a Naval Corpsman Pharmacist Mate. She served at Portsmouth,
Virginia from December 1945 to June 1946 and Norfolk Navy Receiving
Station from June 1946 to April 1949. Medical duties varied as
the needs of the many returning military personal were treated
as admissions or outpatients in need of minor surgery, nutrition,
discharge physicals or rehabilitation.
