Tony
was drafted into the U.S. Army in May 1966. He trained with the
554th Combat Engineers at Fort Lewis Washington and arrived in
Vietnam during September 1966 via the USS General John Pope.
With arrival at Qui Nhon, Tony's unit provided bridge security
and delivered Ammo to fire bases throughout central and northern
SouthVietnam, Qui Lai, Bong Son, Duc Pho, and Pleiku. Rotated
out of Vietnam in Sept. of 1967, he returned to Fort Lewis and
instructed Officer Candidates in the construction of floating
bridges till May 1968.
