Michael F. Fiorini *** U.S. Army *** Johnston Atoll 1968-1970

 

After basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia in November 1968, Mike was assigned to the Joint Task Force Security unit on Johnston Atoll. As a strategic territory of the U.S. in the North Pacific Ocean, this .5x2 mile atoll is occupied by the Army, Navy and Air Force. Due to its isolated location Johnston Atoll has been utilized for nuclear weapons testing and chemical agent storage or disposal. From April 1969-until discharged as a Spec-4 in June of 1970.
