In November
1994, Torben enlisted into the U.S. Air Force. Basic training
being held at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas and then shipped
to Shepard AFB, Texas for training as a 2W101 Weapons Loader
Specialist in 1995. Weapons Specialist training included the
loading and arming of laser guided 250 & 500 lb bombs, AIM-7,
9 or 120, Air to air Interceptor Missiles
and the aircraft's 20mm, M62A1 mini-gun that could fire at the
rate of 2-4,K rounds per minute. Aircraft supported consisted
of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 "Phantom", F-15 "Eagle",
Boeing 52 'StratoFortress" and the Fairchild A-10 "Thunderbolt
II" and "Warthog."Stationed at from 1995 to 1998
at Edwards AFB, California with the 412th Weapons Testing Squadron
where pilots and navigators experienced live fire and evaluation.
After a honorable discharge in 1998, he served an additional
year with the Massachusetts 104th Fighter Wing, Air National
Guard.
