U.S. Army *** WWII 1942-1945
- John
was part of the Army's 805th Engineering Battalion (avn.sep)
during WWII. He repaired, maintained and constructed aircraft
runways that were critical to the Island hopping strategy used
in the Pacific. Entering in January 1942, Boot Camp at Fort Belvoir,
off to Choreia, Panama in 1943, then Bellows Field Hawaii, Saipan,
Tinian, the invasion Okinawa and ie-Shima. Photographs in his
possession of note are those of the Japanese Peace Envoy in taken
August, 1945; He was discharge shortly after in 1945.
