M-1906 "Field Gun 4.7in"

Designed by the U.S. Army Ordnance it was issued in 1906 sporting a 10 foot barrel with a hydro-spring recoil mechanism. Of interest, the 75 units manufactured to the original American standard, were required to be machined during World War I to a 120mm bore or 4.7 inches. This retooling allowed the American artillery to be compatible with the French ammunition. This rugged classic military design heaved a exploding 60 pound, anti-personnel shrapnel shell at 1,700 feet per second and with an effective range of 7,900 yards. Utilized by the Army after World War I into the early 1940's.
