Fred Conrad Herbert
*** U.S. Army *** Vietnam 1971
piloted the Huey UH-1C helicopter flying with the U.S. Army's
117th Helicopter Assault Squadron under the call sign as "
Sidewinder 4." On September 30, 1971 while escorting a resupply
mission to a remote firebase in the Tay Ninh Province near Cambodia.
They engaged the North Vietnamese Army and drew heavy fire, his
aircraft "Death's Orgasim"(tail #458) was stuck by
51 mm machine gun fire. With the Huey mortally wounded, Fred
and the crew were killed in action when it crashed. Recipient
of the Distinguished Flying Cross medal.
Chris Roger Behm ***
U.S. Army *** Vietnam 1971
Behm was a Door Gunner and Crew Chief on a Huey helicopter with
the U.S. Army's 117th Helicopter Assault Company out of
Bien Hoa, Vietnam. On September 30, 1971 as they provided
machine gun fire while escorting a supply mission to a remote
fire base in Tay Ninh Province, Chris along with crew members
of his Huey were killed in action when their aircraft was stuck
by enemy fire and crashed in a remote jungle region near the
Cambodian border. Recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross
